There are big differences between “high tide” and “low tide” in Britain. In some places, the sea goes out a very long way. In summer,for example, you can walk from England to Wales! As the tides comes in and goes out, it cleans the beaches. In the port, the ships wait for the high tide. At low tide, it is inpossible to go in or out of the port.
The tides can also help to make electricity. There are plans ti make electricity in the sea near Bristol.
