1. Spend money like water 花钱如流水:of someone spends money like water, they spend too

much

? Carol spends money like water - no wonder she's always broke.

2. In hot water 水深火热:in a difficult situation in which you are likely to be punished ? Those e-mails complaining about your boss can land you in hot water.

3. A fish out of water 涸辙之鱼:someone who is uncomfortable in a particular situation ? After living in Hong Kong for most of his life, Lee was a fish out of water in Los Angeles.

4. As a duck takes to water如鱼得水:Cliché easily and naturally. ? She took to singing just as a duck takes to water.

5. Blood is thicker than water. 血浓于水:something that you say which means family

relationships are stronger and more important than other kinds of relationships, such as being friends

describe or understand because it is like one thing in some ways but like another thing in other ways

kettle of fish.

? I'd driven an automatic for years but learning to handle a car with gears was another kettle of

fish altogether.
