Abstract: Liu Lei got his name because palm print on his two hands like
two words “Liu Lei” when he was born. Liu Lei, born in later period of Xia dynasty, was descendant of Emperor Yao Tao Tangshi. Liu Lei was bestowed “Yu Longshi”, because he tamed dragons for King Kong Jia excellently. Later, because a female dragon died, he was afraid of punishment, so he escaped to Lu Yang which is Lu Shan county，Henan Province now, and died there. There three branches of surname Liu: surname Liu from Qi, surname Liu from Ji and surname Liu from Han Dynasty. Among them, surname Liu from Ji and surname Liu from Qi were from the same source, and surname Liu from Ji merged into surname Liu from Qi finally. Surname Liu from Han Dynasty was descendant of surname Liu from Qi originally. Liu Lei was the first person of surname Liu from Qi in documented history. So Liu Lei is a first primogenitor of surname Liu and Lu Shan county，Henan Province now is the grandfather’s land of surname Liu.
