A Thai marathon runner recently made international news headlines after it was reported that
she ran 30 km carrying a small puppy she found on the side of the road during the 42 km race. Khemjira Klongsanun was 12 km into the Chombueng marathon in western Thailand,on January 20,when she saw an anxious puppy dog by the side of the road. Some of the other runners ignored the adorable ball of fur, but Khemjira stopped to check on it,thinking it had been abandoned. With no houses around and not even a mother dog,the marathon runner judged that this was an unsafe area for such a young, helpless animal,so she decided to do something about it. Slowly,she approached the clog and picked it up. She covered it with her towel to shield the puppy from the extreme heat. Khemjira ran the remaining 19 miles with the puppy under her arm.

Klongsanun had a picture taken with her new friend after crossing the finish line,and the photos went viral on social media almost instantly. The clay after the marathon,the Thai woman took to social media to ask for help locating the owner’s dog, and even went hack to the place she found it in the hope that she’d find someone looking for it. No one came for-ward to claim the pup,so she adopted it and named it Chombueng after the marathon. “Running almost 30 km carrying the dog was truly a challenge. It was two times tiring than a normal marathon but I’m glad to save it and I’m sure it is going to be happy living with us,”Khemjira said.
